Beer taxes in Europe (2019)

  1. The very high excise duty on beer in Finland is why Finns are known to almost never drink beer. For example after sauna, they will almost always avoid drinking. And especially if its been a hot summer day at their mökki and they have an ice cold six pack of Karhu they will absolutely just refuse to drink.

  2. LOL 0,60 per beer can only in taxes in Finland!! I usually to bought German imported beer can for 0,47€.

Beer is a basic product that should not be taxed.

  3. When my husband came to Finland the first time he asked if we shouldn’t just pack the car full off beer from NL or Germany to save some money while on holiday, I told him no. He needed to get the real Finnish experience when you die a little inside every time you buy beer back home

  4. HOW MUCH COSTS BEER IN FINLAND THEN? You get beer for Finnish tax amount (0.60) in some European countries.

  5. I guess Central and certain Southern EU countries tend to look at beer as ‘food’, while in the North it is viewed as ‘alcohol’. Also, Estonian beer tax has come down since the state actually lost money by increasing it 70% in a single year – Estonians started going to Latvia for beer, Finns stopped coming to Estonia, people did not drink any less beer overall.

  6. Ireland has also gone *way* up thanks to minimum pricing per unit at the beginning of this year. Not sure if we’ve beaten the Finns yet.

  7. Why did they delete cyprus even though they could easily put it there since they included eastern Turkey

Edit: oh wait there is a tiny poop stain looking island where crete should have been. I think thats supposed to be cyprus lol
