  1. The church is dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, but it’s probably best known simply as [Peter’s Church](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_the_Holy_Apostles_Peter_and_Paul,_Ras). It was a very important place during the first Serbian dynasty, the [Vlastimirovći](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlastimirovi%C4%87_dynasty), but also centuries later, during the most famous Serbian dynasty, the [Nemanjići](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemanji%C4%87_dynasty). National Councils were held there in the 12th century, the most famous being a [1176 meeting](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_against_Bogomilism_(Serbia)) that outlawed [Bogumilism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogomilism). The church was designated a [UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_the_Holy_Apostles_Peter_and_Paul,_Ras#Contemporary).

  2. I am from the US and was surprised to find that the Albanian people built so many of these orthodox churches for fun even though they are Muslim.

  3. I can read some of the gravestones. The 6th one in the front, left to right, is of one Stefan Mutafchia (descended from weavers), ~~a weaver by trade~~, who died on December 1st, ~~1930~~ 1830.
