I am neither German nor young but I heard that AFD and the right wing in Germany are very active on TikTok and other social media? Could anyone maybe confirm or elaborate on that? On YouTube I personally have that feeling, that for a long while, and maybe even still, that a lot of interests would inevitably lead to more and more right wing content.
Nothing can be worse than greens…
Even though it was state elections, the national politics played a big role in what party was voted for. And when the establishment is left, the young will vote right in protest and when not happy.
Who hears Goose steps on the background?
At least when I lived in Germany some years ago, the far right was the only one trying to court young voters at all.
Bet it was influenced by tiktoks, shouldve get rid of it long time ago
Did they join the Brownshirts as well?
History is going around in the circle, just remember to not involve Poland this time, please
What happened to generation Friday for future?
Not only far-right but also fanatically pro Putin and pro terror, which is even more dangerous.
Russian propaganda is working as expected
Why would a generation completely screwed by their elders, politically ignored by everyone and without much hope for their future vote for the far right? I’m shocked!
Not a good news, but not surprising.
When you dig a little deeper into the different reasons, migration plays a part, but isn’t the whole picture. Germany, just like many of its neighbours in Western Europe, is going through a very tough time. Between inflation and the lack of any potential betterment of individual circumstances, people are tired and fed up.
Then comes migration. Now, immigration is clearly needed due to birth rates tumbling (a byproduct of the consumer society we’ve built). However, migration has happened rapidly, at relatively high numbers, and the people coming in are culturally very different. This has caused a divide and insane friction. We’re seeing it in France, Germany, the UK, and elsewhere.
Spain, Denmark, Italy – they have already changed their approach to migration and even the left-wing is tackling it, because they’ve realized that local populations do not want to deal with increased numbers of very culturally and religiously different migrants who do not want to integrate.
Germany has two options: continue to resist this trend alongside France and the UK, causing further unrest and huge issues, or actually face the challenge whilst also attempting to pivot the country away from heavy industry and reliance on Russian energy, towards tech and innovation.
We do not know how this will end, but everyone talking about the return of Nazis and all that are just as bad as the right wingers throwing Nazi signs at rallies. This is the problem: nobody wants to think or try to understand what is happening here, instead it feels like 1/3rd of people are indoctrinated left wing “we need to save the world fuck rich people”, 1/3rd are “this is my country fuck migrants and migration give me my money”, and the other 1/3rd either don’t give a crap or are stuck in the middle trying to sort the misinformation from the real stuff.
Europe needs to save itself, that is for sure – it needs to grow a backbone, make some hard decisions, and actually stand up to the bad people trying to cause irreparable damage to the EU.
*surprised pikachu face*
If the parents vote AFD and always complain about the other parties, is it any wonder that the children also vote AFD?
Guess who ate enough TikTok.
On the positive side, still over 60% of the most pro AfD age group in the most pro AfD region of Germany didn’t vote for the AfD.
Yes it’s bad, but we shouldn’t forget that the Nazis and their supporters are still a minority, even in their strongholds.
As long as the democratic parties work together and isolate the far right, the danger should be controllable. It mostly depends on the CDU now. Do they value democracy, rule of law, human rights and the wellbeing of the country higher than near term, local power?
What’s crazy is that almost 50% of young men between 18 and 24 voted for the AfD while “only” 30% of young women did.
How much of their messaging is about economics? Are they libertarian? In Poland, far-right Konfederacja lures young voters by promising them becoming millionaires after we abolish taxes and health insurance contribution.
Something that people tend to forget these days is that nazis and fascists were both enthusiastically supported by the young. The slightly more intellectual fascists built their philosophical background on futurism, which was a movement exalting technology, speed and the kind of disruptive force generally associated with youth.
While the demographics was very different back then, build this kind of brand loyalty in younger generations will sooner or later pay off. But this is something that the other party leaderships seem completely unable to grasp, and this is appalling.
Would also be interesting the voters by gender
The impression I have about German politics is that most parties, regardless of basic ideology, are really slow to react and adapt to processes happening in the real world, instead of that they would rather cling to decades old instincts and convictions, even when they are becoming completely outdated. Be it the FDP’s obsession with the schwarze null, the relationship of the Greens with nuclear energy, Sholz’s reluctance to give Ukraine long range missiles because he fears escalation etc. Maybe the incapacity to target young audiences trough innovative communication channels could be seen in the same manner.
Every modern far-right party has the lesbian leader, her South Asian wife and the Jewish members.
“You took our future, now we’re taking yours” or something.

The future of Germany is very bright…right?
So the cycle is about 90 years huh
Enbedding themselves into the young people’s psyche will have a long-lasting effect in the future, where a chunk of these people will become loyal to the party and cast their votes in a predictable manner, given the AfD doesn’t fuck up in some major way and lose respect.
When the “far right” becomes the majority, is it still far right?
I wonder if the reason the young voters go for the far-right party is because they have daily contact with poorly integrated MENA people?
I could imagine how older generations could be isolated from those people because they work in places where they are not present and hence will be blind sighted to potential social issues.
Or maybe the young generation is influenced by SoMe somehow.
Great effort by the Assholes fur Deutschland in their disinformation campaign.
Dutchman here. Something that i have noticed among people of this age group is how they start to consider themselfes anti-woke extremists and therefore claim to vote right wing.
My only conclussion can be that all the wokeness everywhere is shooting itself in the foot. Because, some of their main complains are tv shows and videogames. They claim that these studios are following some kind of woke agenda. If this is true, then it seems that people are just not having it anymore.
