Burning trash a major source of plastic pollution: study

1. How is this still a thing?

2. I’m not advocating for trash incineration but this study is about open or pit burning not modern incineration. This is mostly happening in developing nations, specifically in places with trash management problems. 

   From the article

   “The main source of plastic waste in Global South nations was uncollected waste, researchers found, with almost 1.2 billion people living without any other means to dispose of trash.”
