Just yesterday, Trump told New Hampshire voters not to vote for Biden…and then couldn’t think of Kamala’s name for a moment…you can see the panic set in when it didn’t immediately come to him, and the relief when he finally remembered.
If Biden had done this, it would be front page news.

It’s a head scratcher that Biden had so much scrutiny but Trump is getting the green light.

The reason why it’s hard for cons and elites to acknowledge Trump’s dementia is because from their perspective, every crazy thing he’s doing to try to stay out of jail makes sense to them.

MSNBC is preaching to the choir. MAGAts will never see this. Fox News will never air this. NBC, ABC, CBS, ALL the news that MAGAts consume will never air this. They coddle trump voters. It’s inconsequential to trump voters.
Biden was essentially bullied into ending his candidacy because of how badgered he got from people about concerns for his fitness and mental acuity, and Trump never got 1/100th the same attention when those exact same concerns apply to him as well.

Trumps pattern of outrageous statements, lies and hateful comments has been going on for years. His speech patterns and lack of focus on issues has become even more bazarr. Americans dont need journalists to point this out. Voters are coming to the conclusion that Trump is out of his mind and loosing it more and more each day. They are watching Trumps campaign go off the rails daily. Everyone is connecting the dots and quite frankly it is getting quite scary this guy could become president. When you talk about a “woke movement” , the voters are waking up to the fact that Trump is bad news. America is awake and scared of Trump. He cannot win. The only ones who will vote for him are angry ones who feel they have been victimized by their inability to advance in our system, which happens to give Americans more opportunities and freedoms than any other country in the world. Everyone is concluding Trump will do more harm than good.
IMHO, the reason that Donny Downer’s more outrageous utterances are not more closely covered is that he’s a meal ticket for the media and they don’t want to actually quote the most crazy stuff because then people will realize he’s actually out of this world and people will be turned off and stop tuning in to hear what he’ll say next. They quote the only mildly unbelievable stuff to make their coverage look above board and only slightly unreasonable but still within the bounds of good taste.
In the 2016 race they covered every rally and every word the moron said without any criticism and only the weakest and most tepid evaluation. The John McCain quote was never given the attention it should have been given. They always just moved on the the next load of lies. It was good television and people tuned in so he was never pressed on the real issues and his everyday behavior. Pick a subject, domestic policy, race, abortion, global warming, the economy, immigration, anything and the press never spent any real time evaluating his positions they just handed him the microphone and cashed the checks and they’re doing it again now.

This is a great point and something I’ve noticed for a while. For all their talk of family values, conservative media is extremely crass and inappropriate for children. It’s more than just the inappropriate topics or language. These programs all have such a strong undercurrent of meanness and hatred. I’d never want to expose a child to that kind of awful mindset.

8 years ,and it has been obvious from day one. It is frankly insane that so many people would still vote for this Individual 1.
I agree it does not get fair coverage, and the problem is worse than what it seems:
People assume that when trump goes on his usual rants or tweet storms full of batshit crazy lies, that he’s just being his normal, deceitful self… The fact that he believes what he is saying *is mental decline.*
The debate will be crucial, just like the last one was for Biden. To the extent that people watch it live, it’s the closest thing we get to *everybody* watching the same unfiltered moments at the same time.
For Biden, it made it impossible to ignore or cover up that his acuity and alertness are now badly declining.
For Trump, it will allow a few brief moments of everyone experiencing his incoherence before the MAGA cheerleading starts *and* before the sanewashing of the likes of the New York Times gets applied to make whatever nonsense he spews come out as “Trump offered a scathing critique of…”
Kamala needs to make sure she provokes him enough to really get his crazy flag flying. The angrier he gets, the more incoherent he will get. Helps if he gets tired, too.

The article makes several great points … but if you peel it back a minute, the reality is that the only media sphere that MUST update their coverage to address this issue, are those outlets catering to the right-wing audience.
CNN, MSNBC, all the major broadcast channels, can all cover this until they’re blue in the face. But until something changes, with Fox particularly, it’s all pointless.
The most “trusted” news in this country is Fox, for some damn reason. And sadly, their website looks and reads like a collection of tabloids, attacking any policy position that isn’t in their approved echo chamber. Their television and streaming content looks like straight-propaganda.
So while I appreciate this journalist for saying what we all know should be happening, I’m not counting on it.
I think the problem is partially that Trump was never fit for office. He wasn’t in 2016 and probably not in his thirties. The guy has been a train wreck with character flaws obviously disqualifying him for office ever since he’s been in the public eye and I think most people with normal reasoning can see that. Him becoming more senile is just adding another shade to the issue. I think a slew of articles that are questioning his ability to run the country won’t do shit in the polls at this point. The people that aren’t delusional or full of racist hate already know that. And his cultists don’t give a flying fuck about negative press coverage of him because they think it’s a partisan hit job, anyway.
But I think what could work is people seeing him right next to a competent candidate like Harris in a live debate. It worked when Biden was clearly less articulate and felt much older than even Trump during the last debate. There was a lot of “oh he just had a cold” and “we have to rally behind our candidate” afterwards but a lot of voices said “did we watch the same debate? He’s not up for it anymore” when even Trump looked more eloquent next to him. Everybody knew deep down that what they saw was a problem and I think a few Trump followers might see that too when he’s standing right next to her and can’t form one coherent sentence.
Let’s hope the republican party pays a very steep price at the ballot for the next few years or even decades after Trump is off the table. They sure have earned that for enabling this shitshow.
We don’t recognize Trumps mental decline because he was cognitively impaired to begin with. Not to say you have to have a high IQ to contribute to society, just in a way other than being president.

One of the talking heads on MSNBC’s Morning Joe sort of went off yesterday on how the media doesn’t know how to report on him. They feel if they say something negative on Trump then they have to include something negative on Kamala, for fairness reasons.
Not everyone watches National networks. There’d be more impact if his antics were showed on local news, which where I am, never happens.
