  1. This really shows the contempt that the religious orders have for ordinary people. They need to be banished from public life in every way and prosecuted to the hilt.

  2. Glad that they no longer have any involvement in the Irish school system

    Eh?

    Oh…

  3. The more I read about this, the sicker I feel. Every single person that was involved in this deserves to be punished. We should have absolutely zero tolerance towards anyone who hurts children or vulnerable adults in any capacity, and more severe penalties for anyone who is aware of the abuse and enables it. I luckily haven’t been in the position of being aware of something this heinous happening, but if I was, I just can’t see how I could turn a blind eye and do nothing.

So many childhoods destroyed. My heart goes out to the survivors and the loved ones supporting them.

  4. I can’t even read things like this , absolutely horrific. Those poor children. What the church has gotten away with in this country is shameful. It’s so sickening. I was brought up religiously and went to mass every Sunday for years but I absolutely will not be having my child baptised and signed up to an organisation that caused so much harm to women and children.

  5. This makes me so sad, this is just evil and thinkin that this is happening where i grew up, so terrible!

  6. Cannot wait for the coolock lads to start their riots to “Protect our kids” /s

  7. Time to get the church away from schools and Al other part of Irish life .
Start with the angelus off Rte

  8. There is no such thing as a good religion. Its all about abusing power over others. We should have zero tolerance for any argument made with a basis in religion.

  9. The inertia and pearl clutching crap that we get as a response to this over and over and over is frankly sickening. It really makes me feel ashamed of the country tbh.

The response to this by officialdom has been nothing but an utter disgrace.

Seems the arrogance just goes on and on.

The system doesn’t seem capable of holding them to account.

Can we have some equality before the law and not treat this as some special category because the abuse was carried out in the context of religious institutions!?

Hold them to account, for once.
