It is that simple, actually

  1. The fact that there is a poverty line is horrible.

The fact that 37.92 Million Americans live below the poverty line is a monumental government failure.

  2. Who “blocked” filibuster reform?

    Hint: it’s Dems and republicans.

  3. I mean, you factually can solve problems by throwing money at them.

Case and point: billionaires throwing money at Republicans (and much of the time Dems) to obfuscate and block tax hikes

  4. You can stop the bleeding by applying pressure, but way more is needed to actually fix the issue.

  5. Trillions have been thrown at poverty over the last 60+ years. How the money is spent is the problem.

  6. Every government measures always works so fine in the short run…

  7. You can’t solve insufficient money by providing money.

Ummm, that’s literally the only way to solve that problem.

  8. Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Teach a person to fish, they eat for a lifetime.

  9. I hate things like this. So much is left out. Bills are rarely just one thing like a tax cut, usually they are filled with 60 other things that you might find disagreeable so you vote no, and then some midwit can come along and call you evil for voting no on this un-objectively good thing.

Not saying they aren’t wrong for that just saying i have no idea what the context is here. And it feels like context was left out to specifically start a hate circlejerk.

And sidenote this isn’t throwing money at the problem this is the state deciding not to take as much money as the would have through tax

  10. A recent large scale rct in the us shows that giving money unconditionally to the poor does not improve their lives e.g. health, labor, etc. It is in fact not that simple and something more structural should be fixed.

  11. Poverty is a direct result of not having enough. Just give them more and they are now magically not impoverished.

This should make sense even from a capitalist perspective. “Why is capitalism so good? Cause’ it uplifts people above the poverty line because they have more wealth than before.” So the answer is more wealth given to more people and Capitalism (to them) is the mechanism to do so.

So giving people wealth is how it does it. So give them wealth.

  12. The government doesn’t care. They get tax dollars no matter what

  13. Wow. We should print a trillion dollars for each citizen and all be rich!

  14. It’s called supply and demand. Look at college with unlimited loans. Well, that’s why’s it’s $750 per credit hour now. Anyone can get a loan for $30,000 a year. Lmao.

  15. Why not just change the definition of poverty again?

This is funny juxtaposition coming from people who continue to support few limits on abortion.
