  1. 😢 he worked there for years and years as a doctorate in engineering how can something like that happen.

  2. lol I see a lot of comments defending this guy. As a South African 🇿🇦 I can tell you that he got the job through illegal means. He didn’t climb the ranks because he did the job well, he climbed the ranks because of political links. Furthermore he contributed to the destruction of our railway company. He was part of a team that procured locomotives that weren’t suitable for our infrastructure. I could go on. He’s no hero. He’s a straight up gangster

  3. Surely if he didn’t sign a declaration to say that everything stated or implied at his interview was true to the best of his knowledge, then he DID NOT commit a criminal offence!
Also if the company failed to follow up on any references which is normal procedure for ANY employer, OR if he didn’t falsify any documentation to give the impression that he was indeed fully qualified, then he DID NOT perjure himself!

This leads me to two obvious questions:-

    1. Who was the head of personnel at the time of his employment?

    2. Who the heck is his legal team?

  4. There are very few things you can do that I think warrants that kind of hard time. Lying on a document ain't one of them.

  5. Woah.. this is.. i know this, this is CHAZ culture right? Blonde, orange face, kinda thing? I know this, ive seen the cukture through internet meme culture

  6. If politicians doesn't need qualification why he should be punishable although he worked for a company for years without any problems skills matters not degrees 😊😊😅😅

  7. Engineers need to be qualified, lack of knowledge could kill someone and has in the past – look at the Saint Francis Dam in LA.

  8. What about a prosecutor who calls herself a woman of the law who is funding genocide and helping a war criminal get away with it?😂😂😂😂 The world is full of frauds

  9. People commenting here saying he did a good job and didnt need the phd to begin with….like no, this guy trashed Passenger Rail of South Africa and leveraged political connections to get promotions. South Africas railway network is a trash heap today. He purchased trains that didnt even fit on the damn tracks for Gods sake.

  10. I don't think he should've gone to jail. I think the person who hired him without verifying his education should'be been penalized. The guy clearly was able to perform at his job. So finding out years later should not be enough to put him in prison.

  11. So if the job is advertised as one thing and then while doing the job you are expected to do something else as well, then will someone in the company you work for be going to prison for miss advertising?

  12. How did the people who worked with him not realise that he is not qualified ? Engineer is not something just anyone can fake to be

  13. A guy in Africa? Why does no one ever say the country and people still refer to Africa as if it is a singular country. No one says a guy in Asia they would say the country, no one would say a guy in Europe they would say the country same with South America. But nope Africa still get referred to as if it's one country.

  14. Yes he lied, but this also means that he was able to do the work of an engineer with just a high school qualification. I think 15 years of prison is too much for a lie that didn't harm anybody, especially when he was able to perform work, earn and rise up the ranks.

  15. To the people saying “well he atill did the job, whats the problem”, would you allow an unqualified surgeon to operate on you or a loved one? In both situations peoples lives are in your hands and its disatourous if you mess up. Same prinicipal applies to both

  16. So we hire people based on certificates and not whether they have passion , skills or dedication for the job. Okay gotchu

  17. Faking a degree is going against the system of how they want things to be achieved. It Goes against the learning of how society wants us to go about being a proper employee. It’s Total bull$hit cos they want you to be a follower/robot and pay out for “education” before you get paid. Most people can learn a job just by repeating the action enough or learning on the Job or in training. WTF also some degrees aren’t relevant but once you have it they automatically think that’s a better employee.
