New £29.5m Partick to Govan bridge opens ahead of celebrations

  1. Delighted the bridge has finally been built, as Govan seemed to have been abandoned when they built the new transport museum. I remember GalGael building a trebuchet to pelt food at the site as a reminder that although the museum was for everyone, it had turned its back on Govan.

    What astounds me is the price, how can a bridge, lovely as it looks cost £29.5 million? I know it’s only the approximate value of a decent footballer, but that just seems excessively expensive for a foot and cycle bridge.

  2. Nice to see that shortcut set up. Last time I went to the riverside museum, I met a couple of American guys who asked me where the Ibrox was as they had tickets to the game that afternoon. I pointed out it was just across the water and then had to pull my phone out to show them how to find their way to the nearest Subway station to get across the river, and if they left now and really hurried they might just make the gates.
