Sounds fitting, how many have hear stories of Translink staff giving customers the cold shoulder or told their destination does not exist when asking for tickets to Derry.
Both sides have weaponised the language tbf. It baffles me that Unionism allowed it to be used against them though. As mentioned, other parts of the UK embrace the legacy of thier regions and if Unionism had done that, it wouldn’t be something that could be used against them

Don’t worry the lads from kneecap are gonna sort it out
Ye know the wans from Sandy Row would burn the place to the ground if there was a cúpla focal.
I take it the OP did not see the other threads about this?
Half the population of Wales or Scotland don’t have a disdain for their native language though, so they aren’t really comparable. Not saying its right but its the reality of things.
Pay for it out of your own pockets – Northern Ireland has NO money to waste.
I’m sorry, but those road signs seem really dangerous to me, very unclear.
Edit: five minutes ago: should I post on the NI sub? It’ll probably just be really contentious & stressful right off the bat.
Now: even a busted watch is right twice a day
O look another irish language post. Awesome, brilliant, love to see it
Isn’t Irish or gaelic a dead language though or?
They aren’t treated like that across the whole UK, only Wales because Welsh is the only de jure (legal) official language in any part of the United Kingdom, enjoying this distinction within Wales.
We shouldnt stop until theres irish language signs on everything. Every food label must be changed. Every product must be changed. Every document must be ammended. Every building must be renamed. Every organisation must be renamed. Every single aspect of every persons life must be changed to incorporate the irish language. Nothing, and i mean nothing on this earth is more important than irish language signs being erected at Belfast central station.
There pictures of Wales. If people actually used the native language at the level the Welsh used theirs I’d be all for it.

This means that “[Any material that you produce and display in public in Wales must be displayed in Welsh, and you must not treat any Welsh language version of the material less favourably than the English language version](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/wsi/2022/796/schedule/1/made#:~:text=Any%20material%20that%20you%20produce,than%20the%20English%20language%20version)”.
“[English is spoken nearly everywhere in the United Kingdom and is used in all official capacities. However, there are no laws that make English the official language, though it does have de facto official status.](https://apostrophgroup.de/en/magazine/which-languages-are-native-to-the-united-kingdom#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20Welsh%20is%20currently,enjoying%20this%20distinction%20within%20Wales)”
Maybe it’s not bigotry and it’s just not needed
