So.
One of my friends tested positive, but doesn’t have any symptoms.
However, his CST is still valid……..
What the flip is up with that? Can’t they revoke it or something?

EDIT: I found this article: [https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20210823_96374940](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20210823_96374940)
But its behind a paywall… If someone could post the contents that would be great 🙂

Where’s the flaw? The app isn’t about health or corona..
Is it still valid? It’ll normally scan red after an infection, even if the app still says “access granted” (little letters at the bottom).
Just stupid question : did he refresh his certificates? The covidsafe app does not sync automatically when you open it.
Not surprising, CST has nothing to do with safety, it’s just a means to force people to vaccinate “voluntarily”.
My GF also does not have her test certificate in the app, but when we scan the code it does show up as red.
And that’s why I’ll avoid getting tested as much as possible.
Of course it is valid if your friend is fully vaccinated. We all know it doesn’t stop contraction or transmission but limits the effect it has on you.
This is supposed to be fixed but I still think this never was a huge flaw. It was originally designed like this for privacy reasons. None of the information was published publicly on the Internet, you download the certificate to your device (or print it on paper) and people can only check your status by seeing your device (or your piece of paper). But obviously that means there’s no way to retract existing certificates. If the certificate says you’re vaccinated September 1st, it will say so forever, even if you test positive later. Everyone with a basic IT education knew this and didn’t care, including the app developers, but when a politician found out about it, it had to change.
They now “fixed” this by introducing a public revocation list for people who tested positive. So everyone with an Internet connection can see the certificates whose owners tested positive (without any other personal information, obviously). This is obvious, you literally can’t do this any other way. A piece of A4 paper with a QR code isn’t going to change after you test positive, so the information needs to come from some other place. And every single person that checks covid safe tickets needs to get the information. At that point, it’s public. Again, everyone with a basic IT education knew this and didn’t care, including the app developers, but now the government found out about this and they’re angry about this as well. Maybe they changed it back again for that reason?
Why was all of that necessary though? If you test positive, just don’t go to events. The covid safe ticket says you got vaccinated or tested negative. It (originally) didn’t say you do not have covid now. It also doesn’t say you don’t have ebola or any other dangerous disease. It also doesn’t say when you go to an illegal rave without covid safe tickets and don’t get tested afterwards. The covid safe ticket was intended to avoid (mostly) law-abiding people going “oh well, I *probably* don’t have covid and I don’t have time to get tested so I’ll just go without test this one time”. It wasn’t designed to guard against scummy people who know they have a dangerous and highly contagious disease and just don’t care the least about spreading it. They need to deal with those people with heavy fines, you can’t prevent all possible criminal behaviour with an app like this.
Report it on the app store I’d say
The certificate does get revoked but it can take a day or two depending on how long it takes to get the results.
I came across a custumer who’s 2nd vaccine certificate wasn’t valid anymore exactly because similarly he’d caught covid in the mean time. After that you need to wait for a recovery certificate.
