Ayia Fyla roundabout is a joke…

  1. The problem is that a huge amount of traffic ends up driving into a tiny “village path”. The agia-fyla road leading up to the palodia starts wide and ends up being a tiny village street.
Its like pushing tons of water thru a pipe and into a straw.

This is the result of poor civic planning, seeing how the city grew upwards, and the fact that each cypriot family owns an avg of 4 cars (which is itself a result of poor transportation infrastructure)

The only solution is to bridge agias fylaxeos at this point.

Believe it or not the traffic lights have mitigated the issue a bit. Does it look stupid? You bet!

  2. Live in a village up this road in the mountains and every day in the morning I go to the city. Without working traffic lights, the traffic jam starts from pahit ice agia Fyla and on average the section to the highway is driven in 20-30 minutes. If the traffic lights are working – slowly slowly the traffic moves to the highway and the maximum delay is up to 10 minutes. Traffic lights are essential!
