The monument is partly made with the engine of the bomber that was salvaged from the lake Markermeer.
The Short Stirling Bomber BK716 was lost when returning from a bombing raid in Germany on 30 March 1943.
It was found in January 2020 submerged in Lake Markermeer, near Amsterdam and it is thought the remains of the crew are still on board.
That is an incredible sculpture.
Props for having a real Bristol Hercules as part of the sculpture!
Damn that’s awesome is that a merlin he’s sitting on, he looks a young man just a boy as they were average age 21 imagine 21 year olds today with the fate of history on their shoulders, as a Brit I love we sent 25 Mosquitos to destroy the gestapo headquarters in Aarhus
Did they bombed the city? Civilian objects, houses?
Very beautiful monument, the fact that it’s made with original parts is incredible.
Im sorry for this comment, might sound not pertinent, but the guy looks exactly like De Bruyne
