Yeah, this is like that story that he has no desire to be head of coe, from a book that has charles’s fingertips all over it, that william had to deny.
I get it if he isn’t religious and it doesn’t feel right for him but the whole point of monarchy is that the king / queen is chosen specifically by god to reign. If he doesn’t believe in god then what’s the point of being king? Obviously he’s never going to give up the crown but like idkkkk how separating the church from the monarchy is ideologically consistent with his belief that he is the rightful heir????
Reasons I don’t really believe this – 1. It’s the Mirror. 2. It’s an old story that has already been denied. 3. The article isn’t even pretending to have a source, it’s just “William is doing this” without attributing it to anyone or anything.
Nobody knows what william gona do ..it’s all media click baits.
I think the reason William would not want a coronation is just because he is lazy and he hates formality and any and all sort of ceremony.
He will have to have one regardless, though I could see it incredibly stripped down, which is how I think he will approach the role as king anyway. He will basically be the invisible monarch.
What would be truly revolutionary for the British Crown would be to do away with the entire coronation ceremony already as it is deeply steeped in Christian tradition and in the concept of divine right – two things that make very little
sense in the 21st century. The CoE is barely alive these days, it is going to be downright moribund once the boomers start to die off. Like most modern European monarchies, a true step into the future would be to just have a constitutional oath and that’s it. But neither William nor Charles are true modernisers so that’s out of the window lol
The disestablishment of the church would be a massive move. Absolutely massive.
If this happens, it raises the question of maybe just getting rid of the Monarchy altogether?
Royals are something else.
Imagine thinking of your father’s death on those terms.
Absolute codswallop. What American bs engine cooked this up? Puhleeeez.
I am admittedly anti-William. I just don’t like the guy. I don’t know why because I’m not British, but the thing I find most distasteful about him is his general lack of curiosity, especially about religion and its relationship to the monarchy.
What’s the point of the monarchy then? 🥴
He’s going to start working harder and take less money from the government?
