Ukrainians and Russian losses and gains one month into Kursk invasion

Ukraine’s Aug. 6 Kursk incursion gained more ground in Russia within a couple of weeks than the Russians managed to gain in Ukraine over months.
Many analysts have called it a genius move that turned the tables on Russia.
However, the month of August also saw Russia gain more ground in the Donbas region than it’s done since October 2022, the first year of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its troops are fast approaching the logistics hub of Pokrovsk.

Meanwhile, missile attacks on Ukraine have only increased in their intensity.

  9. There is the obvious benefit of Russian drones and missiles that are destroying Sudzha are not destroying Ukrainian cities. This change in the nature of the war and Russia's struggle to respond, benefits Ukraine by shifting the perception of the war in Ukraine, Russia, and around the world.

    Pro Ukrainian vloggers have pointed out that the offensive forces and equipment used in Kursk would not be as effective in a counter offensive role in the Pokrovsk area.
    Once the Russians are over extended and there forces are depleted there may me a shift to counter offensive in the area approaching Pokrovsk.
    Kursk was poorly defended, relatively close in logistic terms, and there are natural defenses like the Seym river that will make it difficult for Russia to retake the area. So the attack makes sense.
    I have also been interested by the bureaucratic insanity of Putin having to label the Kursk invasion a terrorist attack because he didn't call the war with Ukraine a war. Sadly, it may be the the death and capture of Russia conscripts is needed for the Russian people to understand the reality of this war.
    Tragically, ignorance here in the United States about the need for Ukraine to win is so difficult to overcome, but successrs like Kursk raiees some awateness and may help.

    Russia Needs A peaceful Political And Economic take over If Possible that will remove all Nukes present in Russia. It will need a Joint Occupation much the same as Germany Had To Go Through After WWII for many Years To Come.

  11. The USA and other Ukrainian allies have been dragging their feet in delivering the promised aid and even the promised aid is not enough.
    Attacks on the front line within Ukrainian territory are mostly dependent on this aid and without proper supplies and ammunition it is taking above and beyond heroism of the Ukrainian defenders to even hold the line.
    The troops are spread thin and Russia has the advantage in numbers and other areas.
    The Kursk invasion has provided a relatively safe area for anti-Putin forces to consolidate and organize.
    It has definitely changed the whole war narrative within Russia. It is now a very very special military operation.
    If the free Russian movement can establish itself in Kursk, gain numbers in their membership and branch out with guerilla warfare into other nearby oblasts, capturing additional territory, then it would be an immense success.

    I did not read much about the Free Russia Forces, fighting for Ukraine, participating in Kursk and I was curious to find more out regarding this topic.
    At this time I am of the opinion that the Kursk offensive was more successful than any counter offensives within the Ukrainian Territorial front lines would have been at the same time.
    Ukraine is fighting with one hand tied behind its back but every now and then the tied hand gets free and issues a firm slap.

  13. Only one direct effect can be measured with Kursk. How much of Sumy returns to normal economical functions. Simply put more of Ukraine return to viable economy better the chance it will outlast the grind of Russian tactics.
