2. What sort of international assets does the Syrian government actually have? I thought they were doing the whole “Russian oligarch piggybank” thing where the government created a couple billionaires that weren’t technically in government, then seized their assets when they needed money.

   ISIS was the enemy of Assad and received a significant support from US, intentionally or not. Most weapons given to the so called “moderate opposition” ended up on ISIS hands.

12. Probably a default judgement because defendant didn’t show up. Either way, they aren’t going to repossess and sell Syrian assets to pay that money. It’s “symbolic” and was an utter waste of peoples time
