I’m very glad that he’s okay, just don’t understand why he needs to bankroll it in this way when his fans were concerned about him for months.
I wonder how long he had the idea to not say what happened but knowing he could use it for something down the road? I don’t know why this has turned me off him so much.
this is a choice
This whole thing, whatever it was (I doubt much truth has ever come out) was handled badly from the beginning and then monetized along the way… and nothing has changed.
It caused me to really dislike a man I previously thought was a really gifted, genuine performer.
90 mins of him saying i don’t really want to talk about it
i think it’s his life and his health and he didn’t owe it to anyone, including fans, to speak about it when it happened. if he wants to speak about it now, that’s his choice.
strokes can be very debilitating. just because he seems to be okay now doesn’t mean he didn’t have any physical deficits or other health issues as a result that he didn’t need physical therapy or further medical treatment that he had to deal with after the stroke.
It’s his life and medical situation. How he deals with it is up to him. No you don’t have to watch his special.
Just reading some of the comments and it seems like some look for any reason to take issue with public figures
Holy FUCK this is a scumbag move…
We’re gonna end up hearing about this shit more than Jeremy Renners snowplow accident
I also think Jeremy Renners the man, it’s just like the most told fuckin story this generation
I don’t want that
This feels okay to me.
The alternative would be he’d talk about it in passing to TMZ or have an interview with Gayle King (or something) and the money to be made would go to *them* and the organizations they work for while he loses final say in what gets aired. It’s his experience to own and monetize. I think it’s easy to forget how incredibly traumatizing this medical event was to him and his family. Hes chosen privacy around this all along, and I understand saying “okay, I’ll talk about it but on my terms.”
I don’t know that anyone who isn’t already paying for Netflix would come out of pocket to watch this, so it’s not actually costing the viewers anything extra, imo.
He has a chance to raise awareness about his illness through comedy reaching millions which may help them, and we have whiny ass redditors complaining about him monetizing his experience. You don’t know if he’s actually doing that.
Ok, I’m genuinely disturbed with this article name
Just saw him in Malibu last weekend- he looked great.
Will it be as unfunny as Mulaney’s “comedy special” about his intervention?
Will he be playing the piano?
How do you do a show about an incident you don’t want to share the details of and don’t want people to speculate about?
Everyone would’ve forgotten about his health scare long ago if he didn’t keep bringing it up. He reminds me of Cindy Brady going around chanting, “I know something you don’t know” but whenever anyone asks what she says, “that’s for me to know and you to find out.” Except he’d say, “That’s for me to know and you to respect my privacy and not speculate about.”
Dude was laying in a hospital bed thinking “man the jokes I can write about this are going to be hilarious”
