  1. Their wealth will be handed down. I was just talking to a 90 year old oul fella and his kids, in their 50s and 60s, have various properties on the go that will be inherited by their kids.

  2. Auld people love Simon Harris, mass immigration and high property values.

  3. Love the pic. Smug, selfish and self satisfied? Never!

  4. I really dislike talk of ‘boomers’. Not because of the encroachment of the American worldview (although that too I guess), but because people aren’t born in batches. It’s not like there is a clear group of people who are boomers. Plus all our parents presumably fall into that category. But mainly because you and I would do exactly the same in their shoes. I would rewrite the title through the lens of metrics like youth employment, wage growth, housing affordability, etc.

  5. It doesn’t really help the argument implied by the headline when one of the first points in the article is that a big factor in over 65s now being better off is that more of them are now still working….

  6. The younger generation in Ireland are their own worst enemy.

    * Pro high taxes
    * Pro immigration/support for migrants
    * Pro environment – more taxes and regulation
    * Pro-State – the gov’t should solve all problems – see €335k bike shed

    Maybe they should ditch their lefty worldview was brainwashed into them at UCC/Trinity/UCD and look at why the Celtic Tiger happened in the first place (hint: capitalism/less regulation/pro-business policies).
