Went with my wife and daughter to see it on Thursday and was pleasantly surprised. It was fast moving, goofy and fun with just enough new mixed with old to make it an incredibly fun movie. Maybe we can get an animated series reboot while we’re at it. And come to think of it, the original NES game wasn’t bad either, let’s get an update of that too. I have Beetjuice fever!
The thing I was most concerned about, whether Keaton could still embody the ‘Juice, was one of the better parts of the film. Same energy and level of snarky slapstick. In terms of flaws, I would have happily sacrificed some of the subplots for just a little more depth to Belucci’s character, but what can you do.
The movie was a lot better than I expected. I’m looking forward to a rewatch closer to Halloween. My only criticism would be too many plot threads that a couple don’t have the full breadth they needed. Still would recommend to anyone who enjoyed the first
Ronald Reagan losing to Beetlejuice 2 and Deadpool 3’s 7th week. Noice.
I wish they spent more money on a good script 🙁
I went in not expecting much, cause another sequel 20+ years after the original, but I was pleasantly surprised. It got genuine laughs out of me, not just chuckles but full on Harry and the Hendersons big laughs. If anything, some of the other plots should have been cut to give more time to the main and some more info/backing to Monica Belucci’s character. But still overall good.
Keaton fucking rocks.
Tim Burton unhinged is the best Tim Burton. What a fun time at the movies!
What are the general thoughts of this movie? Is it worth seeing it in the theater?
Granted it was only six theaters but this is the first time I’ve ever seen all of the theaters in a place playing the same movie just at different times. I should have taken a picture, it was crazy. Every sign said beetlejuice.
Saw it yesterday with my 13 year old daughter who knew nothing of Beetlejuice. She was shocked at a few scenes and had a hard time processing what she was seeing. Ultimately she liked it and thought it was weird. I loved it.
