5. **Did you know** that Kathy Bates originated the role of Frankie in the off-Broadway production of *Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune* in 1987? The playwright, Terrence McNally, specifically wrote the part with her in mind. Despite her critically acclaimed performance, when the play was adapted into a film in 1991, the role of Frankie was given to Michelle Pfeiffer instead.

14. I guess there goes what was left of my infinitesimal hope for a Six Feet Under spin-off about her character and Ruth Fisher for “Ruthless”. I’m disappointed, but she’s had a great career.

    In seriousness, I’m going to be sad when she retires. She’s a great actress.

16. She played the lead character (also a lawyer) in a TV show called Harry’s Law that I really liked. Only lasted two seasons though.
