I have a question for you guys… Why did y’all choose it?? You wanted to troll Europe or what😭😭

  1. I don’t know a single person in my friend circle that actually liked that song. That being said, we don’t really care about Eurovison anymore.

  2. As a band, they were the best fit for Eurovision this year.

Yeah, song kinda sucks, but there weren’t much better ones. We had 3 more “joke songs” in final, so, you can see what our artists thinks about the eurovision 😀

  3. Latvia not advancing to final for another 5 years. Yes there are many great singers and artists in Latvia but they haven’t lived or suffered so they are hipsters that make funny, unserious songs for kids or old people. Even great bands like Brainstorm had experienced Russification and now are old hipsters.

  4. tbh they were one of the few this year that actually *performed* and gave a show so i think they are a good choice for Eurovision.
the song is catchy but would be better without “i eat veggies and pussy” part tho.😄 lyric wise.

  5. Here’s a musician’s perspective on this:
    1. The music production was very well done – the track has this Stevie Wonder vibe, with good harmony, groove and hook after hook – the guys are actually well educated musicians with a good production company behind them.
    2. The guys themselves own the stage – they have the swag, the moves, all that jazz – they are professionals after all and you can feel it while looking at them – even when the trousers rip they keep their cool.
    3. The lyrics are a nice ironic take on millenial/gen-z problems and the first line is a really good hook (just look how good it works on Tik Tok) – you have 3 minutes to win the audience and having a punch at the beginning seems to be a winning strategy.
    4. The competition was not so good – like – half of the competition was trying to troll the Eurovision – Bujāns was similar take, but more aimed at Latvian provincial audience (Europe might not understand them as we do), Ralfs Eilands was good, but the performance lacked bigger budget IMHO, the rest were just filler for the show.

Source: I was once on that Supernova stage 🙂

  6. I like the song. I think some parts of the lyrics are very witty and some go way over the border with vulgarity. But musically it does not sound like joke entry and on stage they are pretty active, the boys are also very attractive. We had Lithuania and Iceland send quirky songs last year, Norway sent Keino contest before.

People are either mad about this because we didn’t send Aminata, her song was very unimpressive this year, I would love to send her but…, or because they like to hate on joke entries.

  7. Better than the generic stuff we always get from each country. This one will definitely be something to remember, its unique.

  8. It sounds like trolling, doesn’t it? Like they don’t actually mean what they’re singing? But hey, it’s funky, jazzy, catchy, and perfectly suited for millennial/gen z snowflakes. I think that they could actually win with this.

  9. Voting is paid and you can call for 10 cents for one vote or get 10 votes if you send sms for something around 1EUR. General public doesn’t really vote that much for this reason, so whoever is willing to throw a few thousand eur at sending sms will win. Just want to clarify the voting is not objective.

  10. Are you trolling? 😁 Whats “wrong” with this song? Are all the other eu countries sending some high quality, classical pieces?

  11. Eurovision is not an Olympics of music. It’s a show with freaks, tears and a bit of music. Don’t take it too seriously! Just have some fun!

  12. Yeah, I had the same question. Why we always send a clowns to the eurovision. Pirates, bake the cake etc. But at least they did not choose Dukurs, thanks for that.

  13. I hated it at first and couldn’t understand why it won. Now it makes me smile and is stuck in my head. They are very talented, have great stage presence. It might work!

  14. Aside from the song itself, when it comes to the musicians, i used to study with some of them and we played music together. If they make it, they wont get lost in the music industry, they r quite talanted.
