So I found this song called Tuule Sõnad by Duo Ruut and I am obsessed with it to say the least. I would love to find the lyrics and try to learn it by heart, but so far, google hasn’t helped me yet… Is there a kind Estonian soul out there that can help me transcribe the lyrics? You would really make my day!

  1. Mis sina puhud pohjatuuli,

    idatuuli eeruteled,

    kagutuuli kaaruteled,

    lounatuuli lueruteled,

    edeltuuli eeruteled,

    läustuuli längüteled,

    veskaari veereteled,

    luest tuuli loiguteled.

    Puhke puida, puhke maida,

    Maria mageda maida.

Apparently it’s in the [Kuusalu subdialect](http://www.eki.ee/murded/kiiker/kihelkonnad/kuusalu.html) of the Coastal dialect of the Northeastern Coastal dialect group. I also found [an attempt](https://forum.unilang.org/viewtopic.php?t=27245&start=240) at translation, but the Coastal dialect is pretty much dead nowadays and it’s surprisingly different from Standard Estonian (it could be genealogically closer to Finnish than to North Estonian and Standard Estonian), so it is rather difficult to directly translate. The main idea is about talking about winds from different directions.

  2. I’ll mark it here and I can technically do it tomorrow 🙂 I need to ask my grandma she knows a lot about dialects and has a wide knowledge.
