  1. Uma mina de agua? (A water mine? Like i have gone to similar structures that were water mines, now i dont know if they were mines that now just have a spring or something at the end.)

  2. These are known as water mines, of which there are many in Sintra. These architectural structures are designed as galleries or drains that capture sub-surface water, typically just a few meters below ground. Most of these gallery-structured mines are grouped together and bear the inscription “CM de Cintra – P.A. Chaves – 1887,” a reference to Paulo de Azevedo Chaves, the concessionaire responsible for maintaining the system. This date marks the start of the system’s operation, making these mines some of the oldest water sources still serving the municipality.

Inside these galleries, water is collected in a trough, sheltered within a vaulted passageway large enough for a person to walk through. While the length of these galleries varies depending on the spring, they typically range between 2 and 5 meters.

  3. Não vi em Sintra mas sim no parque de príncipe real. Um reservatório (da Patriarcal) com estruturas semelhantes quando o descem para visitar! Com ligação a outros reservatórios
