  1. Article Summary:
The reason they aren’t happy about it is because of underlying problems to the system which will mean a lot of people are going to be worse off than they were in prison and end up re offending.

The reasons given by released prisoners in the article is that so many of them are being released at once that it’s going to take up all the available housing in the area so the next lot to be released will be homeless.
Another complained that it’s all well and good releasing them early to free up cells but the terms they’re out on are so strict that he reckons most people are going to end up breaking them and then they’ll be back to prison.

  2. Victims also were not notified if the perpetrator was released early. The mental repercussions aren’t negligible for them.

  3. There needs to be better integration of prisoners back into society. The pain of getting a job after being in prison. I think for certain crimes you shouldn’t have to disclose it to employers. Timpson is bit piece of optimism in Starmers cabinet as I think he genuinely knows prisons and more importantly prisoners

  4. I’ve seen this happen before.
Offender released early. Was conditioned to prison life and couldn’t adjust on the outside.

Decided to ensure they get back in long term by stabbing a young boy in the stomach at a train station.

He waited for police to arrive, and went back to prison happy.

  5. Anyone seen the movie Escape from New York?

That’s what we need, I propose The Isle of Wight
