   New research from the Global Carbon Project — an international coalition of scientists that seeks to quantify planet-warming [emissions](https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/07/23/us-climate-goals-emissions/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4) — finds that methane levels in the atmosphere are tracking those projected by the worst-case [climate scenarios.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/interactive/2022/global-warming-1-5-celsius-scenarios/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4) Because methane traps about 30 times more heat than carbon dioxide over a 100-year time frame, the accelerating emissions will make it nearly impossible for the world to meet its climate goals, the authors warned.

   “These extra methane emissions bring the temperature thresholds ever closer,” said Rob Jackson, a Stanford University climate scientist and chair of the Global Carbon Project. “Warming that was once inconceivable is now perhaps likely.”

   Every environmental concern we see occurring tody were all predicted during 10 years of documentaries beginning 30 years ago.

4. Can’t we just accept that we will NOT meet our climate goals. Why isn’t this freaking everyone out. It’s so weird I’m literally in the film Don’t Look Up. Why do I bother going to work to be miserable. Why bother doing anything but disruptive to try make everyone see what’s coming. Yet fuck climate protestors because ‘protesting ‘is bad. FFS.
