the 7 day average for deaths is now 166 deaths/day
since deaths follow cases with a 2-3 weeks lag,the number of deaths should reach below 100 per day 7-day average by end of February
most importantly
* the number of people on ventilators is **now 393 in the entire country**
* last year **on 15 February there were 2756 people** on ventilators, even though the country was in a lockdown
Yeah, after 12M+ infections and majority of the population vaccinated, there aren’t many infectable people left. R-value drops drastically after reaching a certain point of immunity, even while easing restrictions.
That’s very good. Europe needs coronavirus to keep weakening ike this so that political tensions decrease and the economy improves.
Thats really good. Germany is usually always about three weeks behind the UK in this pandemic (for whatever reason) so there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
as doctor John Campbell said
“Omicron is the vaccine we failed to make in large enough quantities”
This is why we had restrictions, so we can go back to normality sooner.
Good good, we all had enough of this shit.
Could write the same headline about the US. Omicron burned through everyone and is now receding, even as restrictions and mandates are done away with.
This is not ”despite easing of restrictions” but opposite, as easing of restrictions is a result of the number of cases and deaths from coronavirus keeps dropping dramatically.
Anecdotal, but everyone I know seems to have COVID at some point between 15 December and end of January.
Including triple vaccinated me.
It doesn’t surprise me the general trend is downwards.
