  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

Visitors to the UK from the US and EU who do not have a visa will need a £10 travel permit to enter Britain from next year.

The previous government introduced the [electronic travel authorisation](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travel-truths/uk-tourism-eta-scheme-electronic-travel-authorisation-visa/) (ETA) system in November last year for people entering or transiting through the UK without legal residence rights or a visa.

They are currently required for nationals of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, announced on Tuesday that the scheme will open up in November for all other nationals, except Europeans, and be required for entry from Jan 8 2025.

The programme will be extended to European nationals in March 2025, and be a travel requirement for them from April 2 2025.

  2. Is there a possibility for us balkanites to be included there pls

  3. Hope EU levy the same on British Nationals entering EU I’m fairly sure that there are more travelers from UK to EU then vice versa.

  4. EU charges 7 Euros, UK 10 pounds. Why is it more?

  5. insane.
Country, that gave world best language for communication, is closing from the world by itself.

  6. Literally the same requirement the EU and the US have now so I don’t really understand the vitriol here.

  7. And it’ll be handled the same way every other airline handles it – add it to the ticket price

  8. I don’t have a problem paying a small fee to enter a country but god do I hate filling out useless electronic forms where I get asked the same questions for the gazillionth time.

I would love to see any evidence that this stuff prevents illegal migration or terrorism or organized crime because there has to be a good reason why so many countries want you to get an ETA now. The US, Canada, NZ, Australia, South Korea, the EU, the UK, the Seychelles and soon Japan.

Why? Am I suspicious with my Swiss passport? Or somebody with a Danish passport? Or a Luxembourg passport? This makes no sense.

  9. No one wants to visit the cuntry of brexit anyways. They can save it and shove it.

  10. Makes sense. We do the same when we visit the US and soon the EU as well.

  11. Of course they do that. They are now a third country and have to do that.
The EU did with the Brits.

  12. The problem with traveling to UK is requiring a passport. Not this. But adding this to the passport cost, it gets actually quite substantial for a short trip. So, at my home, when deciding for example to take the kids to a country where people speak English, eventually even make them have a week language course, it will be Ireland, not UK.

Just for people in UK to understand, I basically don’t need a passport to travel, as mostly I travel to EU, so I would need to get a passport for 5 people, to be able to travel with my family. So more than 300 euro just for the passports. Probably more expensive than the airplane tickets.

  13. Why on Earth would the UK require visas for EU citizens?

    Something really petty I assume?

  14. So funny seeing Europeans whine about minor paperwork for travel 😂
