Until the League of Ireland starts producing players and stops depending on young lads going to England and lingering in the championship. It’s not like how it used to be the premier league is attracting to Talent from all over the world now. So very hard for an Irish lad to get into first team football in he big clubs.
We need to drop to League C, at least there might be some results to be gotten down there.

Loosing 2 nil against Greece, fans booing the English national anthem while they will be all wearing English club jersey the weekend, calling the national league shite while you pump money into the brits pockets. School boy soccer tactics. Hoof the ball out of our half, who cares. Passes into the box, nobody there to take the ball. Taking shots with clearly two defenders feet away right in front of them to block it.
When they were baying for Steve Kenny’s blood on the COYBIG sub, I was downvoted to hell for saying it doesn’t matter who the manager is, we currently have a sh1t team. They all knew more than me and it was all Stephen’s fault….

We sacked the last competent manager we had (Trapattoni) – Have tried to do it on the cheap since.

Is there an inverse effect in Irish sport where the Rugby team and the Football team both can’t do well at the same time and one has to suck while the other does well? Kinda something like Liverpool and Man Utd in the Premier League?
There were 6 people in the pub for this….nuff said
It’s shameful, the one thing you could nearly always say is that even when we were beaten we were always hard to play against, now we’re easy to play against and can’t score for shit. The FAI never really had a plan except wait for a golden generation and poach talented players from England, now the English tap is off. It’s unacceptable to be constantly punching way below our weight in a sport that we actually take very seriously in Ireland.

it’s not even that we are losing most of our games it’s that this shit is just unwatchable
fucking League of Ireland has better quality and more heart then this shite
I gave up on the national team years ago.
It is a foreign sport. I don’t expect us to be good. We would beat them all in Hurling.
If someone told me back in 2002 what was to come I might have gotten into the rugger
Start going to rugby
I was there tonight and as absurd as it may sound, I saw a definite improvement over Saturday. Our shape was much better and they played with a decent game plan for 2/3rds of the pitch. The problem is we get into dangerous areas and do absolutely nothing. I love Ogbene but tonight and Saturday he probably had 20 opportunities to cross and instead stopped the ball dead or went back to the full back. It’s frustrating because our best players are up front.
All 4 goals conceded came from stupid mistakes. It’s painful but I can take some solace knowing that’s the reason we lost because those mistakes can be fixed. The identical XPG only further shows that they were just mistakes.
I’m genuinely hopeful that the manager will learn a lot from this league, bring in some new players (lock in the u21 lads that have multiple options) and we can have a solid attempt at qualifying for the World Cup.
