How about we stop tempting Africa either way and just help the damn continent? They could use a bit of peace, not fighting for influence.
Like we did in the 19th century? Look, to be able to make a credible case that you’re the more attractive development partner and ally you first have to actually be that.
Our Libya intervention alone has fucked a dozen countries for more than a decade now. Let’s not even get into all the other shit France has been up to. That’s just north and west Africa. In Southern Africa there’re hang-ups around our support for Apartheid South Africa. The list goes on…
Tbf historical reasons dictate I can’t really blame Africa for distancing themselves from Western influence. That being said I also highly doubt Chinese influence is benevolent
