1. Under pressure from the Ukrainian community and diplomats, the Canadian organization that financed the Russian propaganda documentary “Russians at War” said it would no longer support it.

   This was announced by the Chair the Board of Directors of TVO, Chris Day.

   “We have listened to the Ukrainian-Canadian community and their thoughtful and heartfelt input. TVO’s Board of Directors has decided to respect the feedback we have received, and TVO will no longer be supporting or airing Russians at War,” Day said.

   He added that “TVO will be reviewing the process by which this project was funded and our brand leveraged.”

2. This last year (people cheering in Toronto streets on Oct 7, head scratching immigration policies) has really been Canada’s Witness era.

3. I have a feeling the film outline submitted for funding differed greatly from what was delivered. Still a real fumble.

4. Good news that they’ve decided not to air it, but something that should’ve been done without a protest.

   Diplomatic and diaspora efforts used on something trivial. Shame on the organizers and those who decided not to do their due diligence before green lighting the funding for this garbage.

5. how many times will it happen again till everyone understands that working on RT is a huge red flag?

6. i’m even more interested in was the funders that dumb or moronic not giving a fuck about sponsoring movie -whole concept of which was breaking by everyone involved (starting from soldiers, finishing with filming crew on the ground) ukrainian laws?

   Or other potential outcomes like eg how would they react if movie maker would be HIMARSed together with guys she hang around or just detained for illegal crossing of border? would they silently accept it or try to make a fuss?
