Good fuck them and give it to Ukraine
The EU Court has refused to lift sanctions from the Russian National Settlement Depository (NSD), with the amount of its frozen assets nearing €70 billion.
Source: Bloomberg, citing the court’s decision
The European Court rejected the appeal from the Russian depository regarding the annulment of EU sanctions imposed in 2022. The NSD’s assets, frozen in the Belgian depository Euroclear, amount to approximately €70 billion.
Yes. These sanctions should be lifted when Russia withdraws their troops from Ukraine’s territory. This is how civilized countries work.
From the article:
“These assets are not used to generate excess profits, which are transferred to Ukraine as financial support.”
My brain is about to have an aneurysm trying to figure out what this sentence is trying to say.
Could it also have said “These assets are not used to generate excess profits, which are transferred to grandchildren as Lego sets”?
Am I to understand that it may be standard practice to transfer sanctioned Russian money’s interest (profits) to Ukraine? Or perhaps they are not allowed to collect interest on sanctioned assets? Or they are choosing not to? Just seems a confusing sentence.
I’m confused wasn’t it $270 billion just a few months ago??
Robinhood that shit directly into Ukraine. Lawdy the reoperations after this shitshow is over are gonna be immense!
From the absolute deepest part of my soul
Fuck you russia
Russia: Can we have our money back?
EU Court: No.
EU Court: Do you want this free money, Ukraine?
Ukraine: Yes.
Sounds like it’ll be a very simple solution. I don’t see any problem with it.
