Long time ago I said that the Polish Krab would be the workhorse of artillery and I was roasted.
Problem is, it was never made for a full-blown, symmetrical war against the likes of Russia, it was more made for low-level conflicts like in Afghanistan, where they were present, fired a few rounds every now and then and then weren’t used for a while.
I think, using them in combination with more reliable systems is the best, what Ukraine can do, keep PzH for high priority targets and counter-artillery, for regular artillery missions use the more reliable systems, which can bear the brunt of the fighting.
Lol. Isn’t this the same with world war 2 and their cars. Awesome equipment with reliability issues
It’s the same thing with German cars. Use and take care of it as intended and they will last and work like a dream. But if you fuck up maintenance and overuse them, they will get fucked up. That’s why people buy Toyotas, because the Japanese know people are lazy. And to blame an artillery system for failing after you cooked the barrel.. really
In all fairness, German equipment didn’t do well going into Russia last time either
The Ukraine war truly is the ultimate test of our equipment, maintenance processes and logistics.
Big clickbait title.
PzH 2000 fires 10 rounds a minute, why the Krab fires 2. Maintenance issues is to be expected, and even the article quoting the Ukrainian commander states it’s mostly just getting parts replaced in a timely manner.
Just send more Bradleys.
“A Bradley for you, a Bradley for you, and you, in the back corner, we have a Bradley for you too!”
Naaa, I know its a lot more complicated than that and combined arms require multiple types of weapons systems, replacement parts, and the personnel to man them…
R$D is all over this war…
Oh look, its the usual reports about how the same equipment that has been lauded to the heavens by UA soldiers, of which not a single one has been destroyed yet, with one vehicle [reportedly firing 20,000 shots](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/149j54y/ukrainian_pzh_2000_breaks_record_having_fired/) last year, being ***totally*** shit. /s
We should pay Ukraine for testing our equipment against our intended opponent! Since Europe has not had wars since-45 it is a great rehearsal.
Sure, I will believe it when multiple sources report it and a Russian misinformation campaign is ruled out.
Having read the article it seems the word “catastrophic” is a bit harsh. However these units are being tested to the limits and finding the weak spots will be valuable information for the manufacturer. Hopefully they respond appropriately and make some tweaks.
What’s with the Russian trolls today?
A good strategy to get nations to upgrade new ones & donate the old.
Caesar is superior
Just goes to show that nobody was really preparing for an armed conflict, least of all Germans, that have been beaten into shameful submission by constant WW2 reminders. But, if anything, it goes to show that Russian “NATO encroachment” arguments were a total sack of shit. Anyone with half a brain understood that prior to 2022 NATO’s threat to Russia was almost nonexistent. And that Russian leaders and ultrahardcore patriots have used this argument as a cover for their unchecked and unreasonable aggression against Ukraine
Yes. The catastrophic issue is that they are fighting a war, which is a catastrophe that takes an enormous toll on every machine and every living thing that it touches.
If Ukraine doesn’t want to have these problems, then all they have to do is *OH WAIT THEY CAN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE RUSSIA IS FORCING THIS WAR ON THEM.*
So I guess all Ukraine can do about it just keep winning until Russia gets tired of their military operation being so “special.”
Meanwhile here we have an excellent example of Kremlin descending-order shitposting, as the propaganda monkeys make their way down the list of prominent supporters of Ukraine and generate bullshit reason to criticize each country. Germany has done an enormous amount to support the Ukrainian Army in its march toward victory… ergo… we must all talk more about how Germany sucks and isn’t doing anything and Ukraine is actually worse off because of Germany.
And it works, gradually over time. I was just talking with some poor bastard who was outraged over American use restrictions on Ukrainian Bradleys. He was so sure that there were use restrictions. He had no idea what they were but he was sure they existed. Why? Because of al the great big putrid shitpiles of Kremlin propaganda, which had pervaded his nostrils so much he couldn’t smell anything else. “Well Ukraine’s allies must be fucking them over somehow or another, I’m sure of it, otherwise why would there be so many articles saying they were??”
Eventually this stuff makes it into history books if we’re not careful. Better to rip it out now.
Not surprising, tbh. I think everyone knew from the start that nations were sending second rate, last gen, and beat up older equipment to Ukraine.
Anecdotal out of context garbage. And to paraphrase another comment here, apples ain’t oranges.
Well, the pzh2000 is not designed as a 24/7 artillery. If you use it as such, the wear is too high.
As an audi owner, this is unsurprising.
I hope they send more equipment there, it is an amazing place to test out how well each does.
