Hello, I moved from the US so would appreciate help with the heating in Switzerland. Some of my heaters work correctly but others do not turn off completely when I turn it to zero. Then for some others, there is no heat at all. Is there a tutorial I can reference so I can properly troubleshoot and utilize all my heaters?

  1. check that your heaters are not on a central heating system that turns on only when outside temperature stays low at certain level for certain period of time.

if this is not the case and your heaters always on, I guess need to check whether you have air in the heaters.

  2. Sometimes the valves get stuck and you have to apply force. But don’t do it yourself, just notify your landlord. They will have to fix it.

  3. They’re not supposed to close all the way, there’s always a minimal flow. Most of the time you just can’t feel it since it seems cold to the touch

  4. With 2.5 (between 2 and 3) it is a temperature of 19-20 degrees celsius.

For those that don’t work, you can remove the part. There is a ring behind that you turn in one direction (I don’t remember which) it is spring-loaded
Here is a demo (you normally don’t need the pointy thing) https://youtu.be/x1VKOXKz3IA?feature=shared
. You put it back in by pushing the The valve in. When you have removed it. Take a pair of pliers And make a back and forth movement with the valve thing ( Not my part removed)

Because sometimes with periods without heating it blocks. For those who don’t stop. You will have to call your management. They will make a voucher for you. And a company calls you. It’s probably the thermostatic valve that’s broken.

  5. The controll Needle can get stuck after a while of not moving it. Its pretty common to for them to get stuck. Ask your Landlord to Fix it. I need to Fix them a Lot Jobwise. Do not try to do it yourself, it can get expensive when messed up😉

  6. If you are living in a rented place, heating may not have been turned off building wide (or only partially).

Old building may not have an automated thermostat that would trigger it to make the hot water circulate.

My place had an issue where the heating turned on in the middle of June last year, meaning it was hotter inside than outside for the 25C we had.
