Utrecht, Netherlands

  1. Didn’t know Utrecht was also a canal city, very beautiful picture indeed. Is like this throughout most of the country?

  2. Knew someone from Utrecht. His name was Rinse Spoon. He said it’s his real name. I doubt it to this day.

  3. This is the nieuwe gracht (“new canal”) and is the preferable and much quieter canal compared to the more famous oude gracht (“old canal”). It was great growing up there, miss it a lot!

  4. I’m going to miss this when I move to Göteborg next year. The old Dutch cities are so nice to live in. The bicycle is holy!

  5. There’s a beautiful clocktower there with an amazing view when you climb to the top. There are no hills for MILES, it’s so flat. 💖💞

  6. I’ve been there! It was my first real introduction to the bicycle culture. To all foreigners visiting, DO NOT STEP OFF THE SIDEWALK TOWARDS THE STREET! You WILL get run over. And it’s not like a leisurely trek through town, they are MOVING, they got places to be!

  7. So the doors that open to the canal leads to a basement that is connected to the house in the street. So coal and other stuff could be barged in and loaded in to the houses. Pretty neat
