So in 2.5 years at Juve he has only scored 10 goals vs top 12 table clubs of Serie A. That's in a 60 games worth possible. And if you narrow it down to top 4 sides (20 games), he has scored only once vs Inter last year.
Goals vs smaller teams are important too, but these are not the numbers you would expected from one of highest paid players in europe.

He's also non existent in the build up, and not a physical striker like past Lukaku/Giroud either. I don't think he's the guy to build a project around. Would like to be proven wrong by him this year tho.

He also has gotten a new coach and more quality teammates, I don't think he can have more excuses.

  1. Key to highlight that the man had only played under Allegri till this season. I’m not sure we’ve entirely seen the best of his potential in a system that prioritized clean sheets over everything. The Juve Vlahovic knows sets up 2 low blocks of 4 and plays counter attacking football (against all opposition, conceding possession to newly promoted teams) without the ability to play between the lines and reverting to wing play in a 3-5-2 offensive system.

I agree that this year is a referendum one for him though, his salary is fucking outrageous for his output. He has a ton of potential to fulfil, and I honestly think he can achieve it with us. I just wish the fuckers salary was based on performance objectives so he was actually earning his pay.

  2. How does this compare to other strikers? I’d imagine every striker in the world scores more against worse opposition.

  3. I think it’s normal to statpad against smaller teams but he underperforms against big teams is true too and we know He’s defo no Ronaldo or Suarez type elite tier 1 striker that’ll statpad even in underperforming teams , But we’ll see how he performs in a Good team without Allegri Tax….His Real test will be in UCL imo

  4. I watched him live against Roma. His first touch is terrible, movement without the ball is meduocre at best, his build up not that geat, ability to maintain ball also not great for his body proportions and on top of all that big lack of confidence. And these are traits that striker shows no matter how team play.

He was really great at Fiorentina and had dream start for us, but nothing more except few here and there performances/goals.

I want to say he is not a player you can rely on and that is the problem. Unfortunately I see him more as a backup striker.

Its wait and see now under Motta, and who knows maybe Koop can unlock him, but management should look at oportunity to offload him at summer and get new proven striker (and backup striker in january) because at this moment he didnt prove yet to be Juve material.
