We can appreciate the work of actors and singers without worshiping them, stalking them, turning them into either messiahs or pariahs, acting like they owe us their attention or time, and so on. “Celebrity culture” is a fabrication that exists only as much as we choose to buy into it, and as much as celebrities themselves choose to indulge it.

   Honestly, now that we’re in a social media world where anyone from Idaho to Albania and in between can have a platform, celeb obsession feels like a 20th century relic that we’re increasingly ready to leave behind. Hopefully more folks will follow Roans lead.
