Failure to deliver justice in du Plantier case should ‘always be a deep shame for us’, says Tánaiste

  1. >The Tánaiste said that the cumulative evidence against Mr Bailey is “overwhelming” from his own assessment.

    >He described Bailey as being a “violent man who had beaten his partner so badly she had to attend hospital”, while saying his psychological profile was that of a “impulsive narcissist and misogynist”.

  2. That’s a disgraceful comment by Michael Martin, but it’s what you’d expect from a man with no morals. He seems to be saying that Ian Bailey should have been deported to France, even though it was decided by our own justice system that he had no case to answer. Let’s just allow EU countries to have a higher power of authority over us shall we?

If Bailey did it or not who knows, but a clear lack of evidence, an absolutely corrupt garda investigation and the victims body being treated with the utmost disrespect is the cause of there being no murderer found.

He’s talking about the scale of the evidence in the case, there’s fuck all evidence other than speculation and conjecture. Most of the “evidence” was provided by people who were actually in trouble with the law in Cork themselves, who then miraculously conjured up information about Bailey to Gardai. Go figure.

  3. He’s right to say that justice wasn’t served (clearly) and that is firmly on the doorstep of the Gardai response to the crime scene and general poor behaviour in the aftermath.
But I don’t know why he needs to comment further on suspects. He’s the Tanaiste and not some guy having a ramble down the pub. It demeans him to speculate given his role and there is no need at all.

  4. This country is going to have to get back to innocent until proven guilty actually means that.

Social media and now the tanaiste too, are way too fond of a pile on onto people when they haven’t even been convicted.

There is due process for a reason. It’s so as someone with influence cannot decide someone’s guilt and it must be proven in the way the law requires.

Too many peoples lives immediately ruined because of an accusation.

  5. Is there a scrap of evidence to even bring yer man to trial, nevermind convict?

  6. I hope he means ‘us’ the government. Because I have enough shame to be dealing with. Can blame us for shit we didn’t get up to.

  7. Convicted murderer Ian Bailey obviously felt that he was at risk of being arrested if he ever stepped off the island. If he was innocent and had nothing to hide why did he spend the rest of his life on the run from justice? He did it. And unfortunately he got away with it. The only redeeming thing about the whole case was his inability to leave the island. Thank heaven for small mercies.
