The French tried to burn down Paris when this happened. I wonder how the Chinese will react.
It’s raised to 63 for men and 58 for women… It’s still among the lowest in the industrialised world…
I’m not the biggest fan of China, but it’s still lower than most countries 🤷♂️
Boom, demographics problem solved. Checkmate capitalist pigs.
Rightly so.
It looks low, but I bet a 60 years old Chinese man is way more tired than a person from another country. It’s really stressfully to work 14 hours every day at that age.
Moreover, this means that these people won’t be able to take care of their grandchildren.
Guys, ffs. Just increase the migration of young foreign workers like every other country does
EDIT: Yes, for all western countries that adopt this idea, it has in fact worked well. These nations now don’t have an aging population that is unable to contribute to the economy, because for the last 100 or so years they’ve allowed skilled labourers to work there. It’s a natural progression of a nation undergoing development to strengthen the economy by allowing younger people from abroad to feed into it.. That said, of course in the short term, and in the last few decades, a lot of these nations have had to balance the immigration process to allow people that will contribute and prevent those who take advantage of it. To the person below who replied about Canada. Your country has a long-term stable economy. It may be true that the balance needs to be maintained a little, but for the most part, you are able to survive for the next few decades thanks to this. China cannot say the same, and unfortunately this is also true for other countries in Asia like South Korea and Japan too
In America, Social Security, just Rips you off and keeps your money after you die.
Still 5 years earlier than us
Invest in gutter oil immediately.
Many people dont get paid anyways…
If people are retiring later, what happens to the incoming workforce and graduates when there are no positions opening up?
Don’t they have record-high youth unemployment right now? I realize that not everyone can teach/train, but maybe they could compromise by raising the retirement rate only for people who can prove they’re training new employees and/or their replacement?
Meanwhile in the US, the direction is to prepare to work until you die.
The Chinese are worried about “getting old before they get rich”. Their solution? Just redefine what “old” means.
Oh wow i wonder how the Chinese people how already gave them hard for for most of their life are feeling about this.
Well there will be no problem if gov dont use the money of social retirement for another things
Housing in China is extremely location dependent. It can be millions in one part of a city and empty buildings in another
Imagine being 1 day away from retirement when this news breaks.
That’s a bad sign.
>The draft plan has not yet been made public.
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Here’s the problem. You have youth unemployment in the teens %. You have an entire generation of the one child policy. What this means is Mom and Dad have one kid even though they can now have more. Now mom and dad are also the result of the one child policy. So living in the house is the one kid, mom, dad, plus her parents, and his parents. 7 people, two incomes. Mom and Dad don’t want more kids, 7 is already hard enough to feed, plus there is no privacy with 7 in one house. As the parents start to age, they need more help, and mom is pressured to quit to stay home and look after them. That leaves dad. By the time the parents pass, mom is too old for more kids. Rinse, repeat for a billion people.
release the corona virus 4.0. problem solved.
What does that even mean? Does China even have a substantial retirement fond? Can people in China live of that?
