Hey, all

So I was installing a safety window that belongs to the landlord over an old window to help keep the sound and cold/heat in/out. (Excuse the dirt on the window – it came directly from the cellar). During the installation, the window fell over and cracked. It’s quite a heavy, thick window, as it is used to cover the thin, old windows for safety reasons due to the windows being low down.
The bad news is, my liability insurance will cover everything except glass breakages, so I will need to pay for the 170 x 60cm glass replacement myself, and I have no idea how much this will cost. (500€? 1000€? 1500€?) I don’t even know how expensive toughened glass is?
The frame is fine, made of a rough wood (like it was rough job by a local carpenter or something). It’s only a single pane, but it’s of a relative thickness.
I’ve never had to deal with something like this in Germany before, and I’m not entirely sure how to go about it.
I contacted the landlord immediately, and I’ve also told him today that I will need a couple of months to save up the money to fix it, which he will probably be okay with.
Does anyone have a suggestions?
