Sooo…
At about the end of the klamm, 30 minutes from the higher hütte, you can cross over a small “bridge” and this trail goes up. It didn’t go into a cave there but rather to the left of it. There were some cables for I believe hooking a harness, and it continued on farther than I could go in the rain with no gear. I thought it was a black level route to Hammersbach but I can’t find anything about it and it looked insanely challenging. Does anyone know about this? Is the klamm there where it opens up rigged for actual klettern??

Is that after you went through the Klamm to the Höllentalangerhütte and then circle back to Hammersbach via the Stangensteig?
It is not really black level but you should have some alpine experience and be free from dizziness (if that is the correct term).
There is no harness needed but the cables are used to give you more stability and give you smth to hold onto while passing more challenging areas.
That is a German [article](https://www.hoehenrausch.de/wandern/garmisch/hoellentalklamm-stangensteig/) about that tour.
