Graphic video shows recruits being physically abused by sergeant in Liestal

  1. We had a no filming/photo policy during our RS, and this is the reason why… dont leave it up to the military to bring justice!

  2. Mal zur Levelung des Videos:

Der Ausbilder schlägt auf die Helme ein…

    Jede Aufregung darüber ist lächerlich.

  4. Straight to jail! Hard enough keeping the people’s support for the military, we don’t need inferiority complexed ass holes bashing our citizens.

  5. Former Sarge here. MFLAB.

I’ve yelled at my recruits exactly once, never harrassed, them, let alone touched them. Most of my colleagues were the same, and all of them were non-violent.

Just a reminder that every unit has a different culture, and that culture slightly shifts with every generation.

  6. Some background info since there is some missinformation about this.

These are soldiers, not recruits on the floor. The stick the sergeant used are rubber sticks meant for training which make a loud noise if you hit them on the helmet but are not harmfull in any way. The soldiers are also wearing body armor. Hitting protected body parts and shouting is common in drill training so this is nothing unusual, it just looks bad out of context and in a blown up media report.

The guy filming this will probably spend some days in military prison while the sergeant will most likely get kicked out of the military.

  7. While I wasn’t in the military, I wouldn’t classify that as physical abuse but rather mental abuse, which the military seems to be rather fond of. You can see tha at also not a legal assessment because I know next to nothing about military justice.

  8. What is he saying? I was expecting swiss german in Liestal but sounds somewhat like french? “Allez rampez rampez rampez” but mispronounced in a retarded way? I don’t get the rest. What language is this?

  9. The Sergent and two soldiers (not recruits ) are in my Company.

Agreed it’s not exactly compatible with what the military aspires to be but this is not shocking when you compare it to all the shit we did during RS (we are in the durchdiener part of long service)

Frankly i’m more pissed that they can’t prevent video leaks than about what this sergeant did.

The very goal of this kinda thing is to get you stressed so that you will be better prepared for tension on a battlefield (which sevral times more stressful than this)

They are being yelled at by a guy who they know is playing a character, being hit on a helmet with a soft stick. If they tell him that this is too harsh for them he will stop, we did worse stuff voluntaraly because it’s what we expect of the army. Fusiliers are called rocks for a reason….

TL;DR yes it’s bad but taken out of context and exagerated. There are videos of similar stuff on youtube and nobody cared. The disconnect between what the army is presenting itself as towards the wider public and what actually happens there is wide.
