I, as one of the weird kind of irish (the ones born *on* the island of Ireland and lived here since), also am a huge Notre Dame FC supporter
I can assure any yank lurking that nobody in Ireland gives a fuck about Notre Dame. (Maybe psychotic right wingers like The Burkes and some Nanas)
Anyone under the age of 90 was making memes or arguing with Americans about its lack of importance as it burned.
I feel kind of bad for him. He probably had being Irish as a big part of his identity now it’s just gone. That’s got to sting a bit.
I really don’t like /r/shitamericanssay, loads of the stuff that gets posted there is either obvious satire that goes over their heads, or naïve or edgy posts from random teenagers.
Americans: “I’m like 100% Irish, well like half Irish, my great grandfather was Irish, well like British-Irish, from Scotland or Europe or somewhere. But he wasn’t born there he was born in New York and never knew his parents but we think he was Irish”
