  7. There are processes that no one notices, but which will have serious significance. A significant part of the Russian elite were pro-Western by nature. And now hundreds of participants in the war in Ukraine are actively embedded in the Russian political system. This will have repercussions on Russia's decisions against the West.

  9. So the narrative is we can escalate a proxy war to the brink of a direct response. It’s clear these missiles won’t tip the balance of the Russia/ Ukraine war but will damage the balance of power between Russia and the rest of the world on a way that it has never been damage outside of armed conflict.
    Let’s make no bones about this the only reason we aren’t at armed conflict stage is because of the threat of how nuclear war would pan out.
    Let’s make no bones about how first incinerating a very significant amount of the worlds population would pan out or destroying almost all of public infrastructure would affect anyone lucky enough to have survived the initial blasts. Let’s not even talk about the effects of the fallout soaking into the water table and surface plants rendering everything toxic if not lethal to all animal life for months even years. Let’s not lose sight of the stakes involved.
    Missiles has to be a step along a path to a resolution. Which means there have to more, mostly likely several more.
    This war already escalated because of the march of NATO towards the Russian border and the threat of nuclear missiles on their borders. Imagine how the west reacted to the Cuban missile crisis and understand how close to World War III we are edging towards.

  12. If the West had acted against the Ruzzian Emperor in 2008, or even in 2014, we wouldn't be in this mess right now. Leaders need to grow some, and realise that the Emperor is wearing no clothes.

  14. The closer we get to the real thing the less I take Article 5 seriously. If Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states think the Americans are going to risk New York, Washington or LA by retaliating to a nuclear strike from Moscow they are kidding themselves

  20. They need jassm america has much larger stockpile of those than of atacams. And now that Ukraine has f16 they can be mounted on those. The newest model has a range of around 1000km that would make it impossible for Russia to have any depot for ammo fuel and material that close to the border. This will slow down the Russians on a scale not seen before. They can't even have barracks for the soldiers within a 12 hour ride from the border without risk of getting hit. And it leaves Moscow well within range.

  23. I do not think the US is going to change its mind on missiles attacks into Russia in this pre-election period. Russia should nevertheless sharpen its claws and test the tactical nuclear weapon and be ready if it is needed. Let Starmer and Zelensky understand it is not bluff, and if they want to proceed, they have been warned of the consequences.
