Welcome to the real world. Tom’s daughter needs a new extension, yes probably with anthracite bi fold doors and a nice little sky light.
It’s a real shame but I doubt all too common in many charities.

Didn’t all the family go to Barbados with him as soon as British Airways offered Captain Tom a free holiday?
No doubt they all had specialist carer roles. Wonder which second cousin twice removed would help tuck the $100 bills in the stripper’s g-string.
Fair play to what *he* achieved but that’s a family of grifters, right there
>Fundraising management costs include advertising and marketing expenditure of £20,884 and **fundraising consultancy fees of £126,424**
Not a bad grift that.
>During the period reimbursement of costs of £16,097 were made to Club Nook Limited, a company under the control of H Ingram-Moore (a trustee for part of the period and spouse of a trustee), in respect of accommodation, security and transport relating to Captain Sir Tom Moore travelling around the UK to promote the charitable company. H Ingram-Moore and DC Ingram-Moore are also directors of Club Nook Limited.
>During the period payments of £37,942 were made to Maytrix Group Limited, a company under the joint control of D C Ingram-Moore and H Ingram-Moore, in respect of website costs (£5,030), photography costs (£550), office rental (£4,500), telephone costs (£656) and third-party consultancy costs (£27,205). These costs were initially funded by Maytrix Group Limited on behalf of the charitable company, and reimbursed when sufficient funds were available. H Ingram-Moore and D C Ingram-Moore are also directors of Maytrix Group Limited
>During the period expense payments of £1,686 were made to H Ingram-Moore in respect of
motor, post, subscription and travel costs.
They literally created a company for this scam haha. A month before the charity was incorporated.
Grifters gotta grift.
Someone does something good and bastards milk it for all they can.
Who didnt see this coming. The entire thing was crooked and the amount they shoved it down everyones throats
Yeah maybe turning someone who walked round their garden into a ‘hero’ was a bit stupid I dunno.
What better way to show off the values our great nation holds dear? Mawkish sentimentality, snouts in the trough and hypocrisy all in one.
I loathed the way everyone in Britain had a boner for this guy. Fair enough he walked around his garden but that’s all he did. I’m not saying he didn’t have good intentions with it but he absolutely didn’t deserve the media attention, number 1 single and everything else that came with it.
The UK is such a weird place.
I did some work shopfitting for Oxfam, we basically splurged through cash on the whim of the shop managers who all thought they were fucking professional interior designers
Now I feel vindicated for not donating to this at the time.
I donated to this and don’t I feel a bit foolish.
So the rumours about his daughter using him for money turn out to be spot on.
Felt there was something off with the Daughter. Questions to be asked
No disrespect to the man and no comment on whatever drama is going on here but:
it really makes me cringe when people make a point of calling him “captain sir Tom” – it’s just a level of slightly nauseating sycophancy that people get towards these stupid titles. It’s such an awkward thing to say every time you mention his name as well.
I bet he wouldn’t give a shit if you just called him tom
This whole thing was so fucked up.
An old soldier doing laps of his enormous garden, to raise money for charity – oh no wait, the NHS, which is severely underfunded, for a decade. And the Tories span it in their favour.
This is one of my biggest pet hates .I think there should be some kind of legislation where a charity can only be called a charity if a certain percentage goes towards the charity . Just off the top of my head maybe 75%. Too many people are earning huge amounts out of so called charities and a lot of people are not aware of it . If you think back to years ago people donated their time and effort for nothing to help the needy . Where did we go so wrong !
Not the least bit suprised. His daughter turned him into a brand and always had this end game in mind.
Seems a bit like going abroad and leaving your daughter unattended to be abducted, then paying off your mortgage once you’ve raised enough funds through your charitable trust…
Surprise surprise. Madeline McCann foundation all over again, isn’t it?
Here are the charities that got £40k each from the Captain Tom Foundation:
* The Royal British Legion
* MIND
* Willen Hospice
* Helen and Douglas House
The smallest one on this list brings in around £5m a year revenue. The RBL’s last accounts show revenue in 2020 of £143m. If you want to donate to the RBL, just send them money directly. Why on earth is the CTF raising money, taking a cut for administration costs, and then making a grant to a huge organisation that has it’s own fundraising capabilities? It’s an extraordinarily inefficient way to spend donations.

I remember telling my wife that the family was obviously making a mint out of the old gentleman’s good intentions, and that the family were going to media the shit out of it and squeeze every penny they could out of the innocent and unsuspecting British public.
My wife is British so she scoffed, glared briefly at me to show her displeasure at my heretic attack to Britishness, then proceeded to ignore me.
What do I know? I am not even British. But I have seen all of this before: populist ~~discourse~~ two-word slogans become policy, long-term control of traditional media shapes majority public opinion largely by *not talking about that*. Propaganda everywhere, ranging from in-your-face to very subtle. Politics replaced by personality ratings.
TL;DR: you guys have been *berlusconised*.
Corruption runs through this country like a stick of rock.
What, the fact that he wrote and published two books at the age of 100 wasn’t a clue??
I said this Capt Tom stuff was bollocks and no one listened to me. Now look at the state of it. People are so far beyond dumb and naive it’s just too much.
What Tom did was lovely, but it really brought out the worst in everyone else.
£210k on fund raising? i thought the fundraising was done by Captain Tom walking round his garden? it couldnt have cost £210k on lawn repair or zimmer frame oil.
Let’s be fair, we knew something like this was going to happen. Don’t get me wrong, the start of the pandemic was a pretty weird time for the culture of the country. I still don’t understand the hype for him considering thousands did similar things. Then again, his family had money and the right image. If he had done this on a council estate the outcome would be local at best.
The whole farce was Princess Di Death levels of totally unwarranted mass hysteria.
As soon as I saw his daughters on TV, their grins said it all. I bet they’re fucking loving it.
