Nothing has happened in the past 5 years to alter the financial priorities of the country.
Liars the lot of them. Next they will telling us how were they to know that printing money for the last few years would lead to inflation.
Property Tax was another promise at one stage wasn’t it?
Doubt we’ll ever see the end of either.
Memory is a most evil thing.
People of Dublin West, please don’t vote for this guy in the next general election
They should introduce 2 new taxes but remove 1
Arsewipes, the lot of em.
Sinn féin are only telling you what you want to hear…
Absolute snake!!
Fine Gael lost the election. If people had given Fine Gael a mandate to abolish USC, they would have.
Ah, hate to play devil’s advocate here but we need that money, otherwise it’s other taxes instead. We need a certain amount of money to function as a country and that’s a vital part of the countries income.
And I do think it’s one of the fairer taxes, people who earn more, pay more.
“Fine Gael will unilaterally force the bondholders to share the cost of recapitalising the banks”
“Fine Gael will give Ireland a high speed broadband with speeds in the top 5 of OECD”
“Find Gael will dismantle the HSE and replace it with a system of Universal Healthcare starting in 2016”
All from 2011 manifesto.
I told him that tweet would come back to haunt him
There’s no way FF and FG will go into government together
Ah…Leaky Lieo.
Just not determined enough. That tool will say anything and what he says changes depending on who he’s trying to impress on a given week.
They could at least change it to be a part of the normal tax rates so that the numbers aren’t so confusing.
Pascal D was on Newstalk earlier this week and was shocked and appalled when it was put to him that USC was a tempory tax. I’ve never seen anyone distance themselves from anything quicker. He refused outright that it was a temporary tax and that he never said that.
The presenter (can’t recall her name, the former doctor one), you could tell, was thinking to herself “the dogs on the street know this was introduced as a temporary tax”.
Anyways. TLDR #knobs

Hahahahahaha wanker
I thought this was a new tweet so I drastically forgot what year it was
They didn’t win a majority in the election a month later and the rest is history. Martin said the other day that expenditure has grown to since it was introduced. Fine… but what are they going to do when the next crisis hits? We’ve spent the rainy day fund and it doesn’t look like they’re building a new one.
I don’t know why people are so hard on getting rid of the USC. It’s one of the fairer/ progressive taxes
People forget that abolishing the USC was also in their 2011 election manifesto!
No. I do remember how determined they were to lie for votes though!
