Exorbitantly high clearing cost CFL

  1. Hi, I ordered an item from the UK and received a letter from the cfl. After providing evidence of the purchase they sent me the package; the original value of the item was 209 pounds they asked me to pay 78.2EUROS cash for clearing the item. Can anyone explained me based on which law, regulation this is allowed and to which products, countries etc does it apply? Thanks

  2. Yeah ordering from the Uk or US is the same now, you have to check import taxes for the specific hscode of your product. They might be wrong but they usually follow senders info that are on export papers( 3 shipping + 3 comercial invoice) so if your seller has ( we don t take responsability for import taxes …) in their policy then it’s all on you brother.

  3. Yes I had once to deal with them too!

Much more expensive than post and super slow. They asked me just like you for the invoice, even though it was attached twice (!) exactly for that reason on the outside of the box. I told them it’s on the box but sent just to be safe it again. Got charged 5 euro extra for this! (You too).

In the end i paid 5 euro tax and almost 30 euro charges to CFL. It got me really pissed. I ordered a package from Japan, I chose slow surface parcel to lower the shipping cost and then CFL came and charging a premium for shitty service. Could have used EMS and have my package within a week instead of 3 months and it would have been cheaper.

The majority for your costs are tax however because your stuff was probably quite a bit more expensive. But still, you probably paid almost double of charges to CFL than what post would have asked

  4. Yup. I had the same experience. I’ve always bought goods from the UK because they have a lot of quality stuff i usually can’t find any where in Europe.

I just ordered an item from Etsy. The total i paid on Etsy was £20. CFL and Lux Post charged me a combined total of €32.
