Hi guys, after 1 year, I finally touched B1 Certification from Goethe Institute, and I’m from Asia, so I think that I will get a different Visa.I searched some companies for 3 jobs I’m looking for Hotelfachmann (I worked for Accor Group before), Maler, Autoreparatur on [https://www.ausbildung.de/](https://www.ausbildung.de/)Those jobs offer first year €900+, second year €960+ and the third year some offered over €1000 and under €1000. So I take the first year for an example, I have €900+ Brutto and €700+ Netto (I used this website [https://www.brutto-netto-rechner.info/](https://www.brutto-netto-rechner.info/)).

With 700€+ can live at least can fill full my stomach and save a little bit to pay to my loan? These cities I’m looking for Vertrag (Berlin, Dresden, and Essen) . Of course for the rent, must be outside the city center for cheaper rent.

Thank you guys for all the information. Good day.

  1. Well, Bafög is 825€netto/month and considered enough for a student to live. With 700€ you probably will be able to live but I honestly don‘t see you paying off a loan. Also keep in mind that those salaries listed are rather optimistic (a maler will most definetly not make that much money).

What makes you so confident that you‘ll be able to find a company that is willing to go through all the hassle with visa and work permits?

  2. You aren’t going to get a residency permit if you end up with a contract that gets you 700 EUR netto, especially not if you need to pay rent out of that.

You’ll need to show that you have sufficient amount of money to get by. Making an educated guess you’ll need to show that you have as much as a student, so 860 EUR – and that should be netto.

German citizens who struggle to live on Ausbildungsentgelt are eligible for all sorts of aid. You as a non-EU foreigner are not. Realistically you’ll need to supplement your income from savings and or from money your relatives abroad send you. Or live together with a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend who will help you out.

That said, I know of a university clinic who gives their nurse apprentices a spot in student housing. I don’t know the current prices, but I heard something about rent being 180 EUR per month with free electricity and free internet and directly on campus. In a situation like that an Ausbildungsentgelt of 1160 EUR per month brutto for the first year works out nicely.

  3. Just for reference: people on social welfare get 450€ per month for food, personal expenses etc. This is widely considered not to be enough, so a more realistic amount would be 550 or so. But even at 450€ you would have to find a place to live for 250€, which is definitely impossible in Berlin, nearly impossible in Essen and even in Dresden it’s a long shot. I mean, it might be doable, but you’d need a lot of luck…. and if you don’t have that luck, you’re basically screwed. And definitely forget about paying off a loan – that’s not going to happen on 700€ per month. You’re lucky to even just survive on that.

So…. it might not be completely impossible but it’s an extremely risky plan because it completely depends on getting incredibly lucky and finding a really cheap place to live. That’s one heck of a gamble to take in a country where you have no family or other support system. So I’d say it’s not impossible in theory, but pretty much impossible in practice.
