It would be “strategic folly” for Putin to launch an attack against Nato, threats against the West is an attempt at “escalation diplomacy”, says Major General Chip Chapman.

This is his typical make a crazy threat towards NATO if they give Ukraine (insert any weapon or ability) and then after the action is approved he gives the ole “This will not change the outcome of the war” and responds by pounding Ukrainian civilians or doing some sort of asymmetric action. Putin threatening war with NATO is much more useful to him than actually going to war with nato

  6. Ukraine's actions are an attempt at levelization, not escalation. An escalation would be a ramped up Russian response above its current extreme level. The Russians need to get their logic and reasoning in order. Not every move in conflict necessarily leads to escalation, but could be viewed as a necessary adjustment to match the situation. The term escalation implies a significant increase in conflict intensity, whereas leveling actions could be necessary for maintaining a balanced defense or ensuring parity. This applies both to active and passive defensive postures. The Russian escalatory response could more likely be a general mobilisation against Ukraine. The Russian politicians seem to be talking about the draft. That would be the next logical rational step, however the threshold for the Russian public supporting that is yet to be met.

  8. It’s not an NATO escalation when Russia first escalated by buying long range from Iran. NATO is only on the tying one of Ukraine’s hands from their back.

  16. Chapman seems to forget that Russia's doctrine is that if it FEEL its existence its threatened , they will launch an ALL out nuclear.Thats is the reason NATO don't want a direct confrontation with RUSSIA.
    Even with limited nuclear launch by Russia and also by NATO , at least 15 NATO countries won't be human habitable and in total dust due to its small land mass and concentrated population.Russia land mass will still ensure some land and Russian to survive or they can move to other Asia and Africa countries.Again I presumed a limited nuclear retaliation.

The formation of such military alliance as a protection against a single country itself shows how powerful Russia is.. I gotta feel for poor western people.. they won't know what is really happening until they stop watching such govt controlled media😂 Here in India and any asian countries in general don't even consider the US a country of power.. they lost all the fame long days back..

  24. OK, Russia cannot beat NATO, but can NATO really beat Russia? Do NATO (all 30 member states) want a war with Russia? The fate of all mankind is in the hands of fools. We are living in a very scary world.

  25. NATO will end up with higher casualties and a lot more suffering on its side, because it simply has more people and more assets to lose in a nuclear exchange in the first place. NATO also has other enemies waiting on the sidelines like China and North Korea. Will it attack them as well, just in case?

  30. I wonder which security EU is talking about when they dont have Economic security without Russian Oil n Gas n Uranium. They are fool enough to turn the favourable tide to China. US will be impacted a lot once its goods are not sold in the sole, EU market struggling to survive.
