So many flag poles in Malta are like this. Using wedges or shims to plumb the pole is correct but they should only be temporary….(I guess except in Malta). I love Malta. At a minimum, at least cut the shims flush so the incomplete work is not so noticeable. I won’t even go into any rant about the missing base cover plates. 😬 Why not finish the job?

You must be new to this island.
Welcome.
Wait this isnt the norm in other countries?
Im pretty sure those are temporary poles?
They use it for the village flags etc during festa and religious occasions, since there is something nearly on every second weekend I assume they just don’t want to remove every time nowadays but it’s normal in every villages
This is just temporary. The rest would be just holes.
Are the flag poles being used for the feast decoration?
In Malta, this is what we call “professional finishing” or “high standards”. What it actually shows is that we do just enough for things to get by, not an iota of effort more, god forbid someone followed best practice.
