Great how he is using it once again to start blaming Brussels and Wallonië. He is the mayor of Antwerp and he is not doing great handling it there.
Flair added to clarify.
They are big and I am small, and it’s not fair
Ze zijn toch vlug om toe te geven dat ze het onderspit hebben moeten delven.
Vlaanderen we zijn een eiland in Europa mentaliteit.
Vaccination rates are very important and they help a ton, but it’s not like it stops the virus dead in its tracks.
Not only is the efficiency rate not 100%, all it ultimately does is help your immune system fight of the infection if you do get it. It doesn’t prevent you from getting COVID, just makes it so you fight it off easier.
So implementing measures to prevent the spread is completely sane.
The other regions already had quite a few measures in place that weren’t in place in Flanders, that’s why they haven’t added those, they already had them.
As a side note, pretty disgusting last paragraph of him.
It also stops the idiots from neighbouring countries, where the covid safe ticket is already mandatory.
No Bartje, you made the wrong decision. Flanders should have implemented the CST from the get go to put pressure on antivaxxers.
By refusing to implement CST in Flanders not only did you keep Flemish antivaxxers from facing consequences of their selfishness, you also left the doors wide open for those from Brussels, Wallonia and the Netherlands.
The vaccines do not grant immunity. They only give lower odds of infection and a better fighting chance in case of infection. We cannot rely solely on that. Not with the current still insufficient vaccination degree.
I think it was a logical decision to enforce the CST in Flanders as well. Belgium is a small country, there are a lot of people from Brussels that also frequently visit Flanders and vice versa. Or am I crazy for thinking that?
92%? Right …
Bart was like, yeah we agree. But we have a share of antivax antigovernements voters so how do twist our opinion in a press release.
Yeah, that’s kind of the point of a government policy?
So, N-VA is basically saying they don’t like that fact that people are being asked to consider the life of other people as equally important as their own.
That’s not an exaggeration. This measure is one we take because it will prevent infections, in places where they might well happen, in a context where we see them rising.
